My research focuses on various aspects of plant systematics, including:
plant evolution and phylogenetics,
plant taxonomy,
regional floristics and diversity,
plant development, morphology, and anatomy,
plant ecology, and
conservation biology.
I am currently undertaking a variety of research projects that focus plants, such as the systematics of Boraginaceae and Lithospermum, regional floristics of the Intermountain West with a particular focus on the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains, the evolution and development of heterostyly across the angiosperms, and the conservation biology of various threatened and endangered species of plants. Apart from botanical research, I enjoy collaborating with others in a variety of ways, particularly employing phylogenetics to study evolutionary patterns and processes. I am interested in helping non-scientists better understand botanical and evolutionary research.
